At OurStreets, we believe that all shared mobility options — from dockless scooters and bicycles to mopeds and cars — are keys to unlocking safer streets for everyone. These new transportation options are at the front lines in the fight to decrease individual car trips and build more safety infrastructure for vulnerable road users.

These vehicles may be the keystone of safe and equitable transit, but for now, mobility operators face a seemingly simple problem — sidewalk clutter. That’s where OurStreets comes in. We’re proud to announce that Skip has joined Helbiz for our month-long pilot, which will provide both companies with direct access to OurStreets reports for quick and easy resolution for issues like scooters and bikes that are broken or blocking the public right of way. And we need your help!

Through this pilot program, OurStreets allows anyone to use the OurStreets app to report issues with Skip scooter and Helbiz e-bikes by enabling them to easily scan the vehicles QR code, which provides the vehicle ID and location to the respective mobility operator. The OurStreets report can then be efficiently resolved in one of three simple ways:

  1. The OurStreets user moves the bike to a safe location
  2. The bike or scooter is rented
  3. The Skip or Helbiz operations team resolves the issue.

If you live, work or visit Washington, DC in the month of March and see a Skip scooter or a Helbiz bike that looks inoperable or blocking the public right of way, we encourage you to report the bike via OurStreets and move it to a safe location if you are able.

Be on the lookout for announcements of pilot partnerships with more shared mobility operators. We are all in this together to make our streets safer for all!
