If This Was My Book of Life — What Would Be In It?

If I was seated on that chair —

Would I be the younger me?

The present me?

Or the me before I cross life’s final threshold?

What would I write into that book of life? Would I write what has come before or what is yet to be?

The younger me would fill the pages with all that is yet to be. The goals to be reached. The adventures to be had. The people to be met and the plans for family and the future.

It would depend how young the younger me was. If certain events had already happened. If those events had already coloured the rainbow of the life to come.

The events in our life drive how we move forward. Even when they are overcome and set aside, they leave an indelible mark. Marks burned into the soul, known only to me. An ever present reminder of what was.

The present me would need to fill the pages of the book of life with what had been before turning to what was to come. There is always a future, as long as there is breath.

As I get older, I have to keep reminding myself it’s never really too late for the future. Well, I might not be up to heading to the moon, but wasn’t planning on that. Although, John Glenn did. But then he had…
