The growth of a business heavily depends on good financial management. Efficient financial management will produce data and information needed by the company related to assets, cash flow, and employee welfare. Making sure that small and medium enterprises achieve this is Swipe2pay’s mission. Swipe 2 Pay builds tools for small and medium enterprises to manage their business better and sell smarter with multiple payments options. The end goal is to ease access to finance using business performance data.

During this Covid-19 period, business owners more than ever find themselves looking for tech based solutions that avoid exchange of physical cash and also allow seamless payment for services & goods by consumers.

“ Social distancing measures set by the government have included caution against physical gatherings. This has definitely affected small and medium enterprises since they rely alot on physical contact with customers. We want to make it easy for them to start accepting cashless payments through our platform. We believe it would be a step in the right direction to avoid cash as it’s one of the major ways this pandemic can easily spread.” Solomon Kitumba, team lead at Swipe 2 Pay.

Solomon also mentioned that religious establishments such as churches, mosques etc.. should also take advantage of their services since all their activities have been made remote. “Our services do not discriminate. We want all sectors to continue thriving and this includes religious institutions. ” Solomon added

The Swipe2Pay team is very aware that there is a lot of skepticism when it comes to online payment solutions in not only Uganda but Africa as a whole. However, due to the perception of cash as a vehicle for coronavirus, they strongly believe that more consumers will be willing to change how they pay for goods or services.

“ There are a number of studies that are supporting the claims that money is unclean, We believe that this will definitely prompt more adoption electronic means of payment, where we believe the adoption of tools like swipe2pay for merchants would be one way for them to ready themselves for the shift in this dynamic” Solomon Kitumba explained.

According to the team, their solution goes beyond payment processing in that it includes a free point-of-sale app and a free business intelligence portal, enabling business owners to monitor their store performance.
