Today I wanted to start a series of posts covering 3 models I think are useful for general purpose learning and how they can be applied specifically to getting better at passing software engineering interviews.

I know from personal experience that it’s easy to get discouraged by the job search. There’s anxiety associated with all the uncertainty and it’s easy to get caught up in the sting of rejections and not notice the larger trends of improvement and growth. That’s why I think it’s helpful to have good study patterns and mental models to assess your progress over time, so you can feel like you’re moving in the right direction.

But staying motivated and not giving up are probably the biggest predictors of success that I notice in engineers who go through Outco, and hopefully, these models will help you stay on track when the going gets tough:

4 Stage of Competence (Part 1)

Bloom’s Taxonomy (Part 2)

Neuro-Logical Levels (Part 3)
