The Drop (2014)

This wouldn’t normally be my kind of film but as always I like to get out of my comfort zone once in a while and this was very good, the tension builds nicely and the performances are all excellent, even if the characters themselves are very tired stereotypes, and we get a satisfyingly poignant exit from cinema for James Gandolfini. I haven’t seen Roskam’s first feature film Rundskop, but I might do now.
