I distinctly remember sitting in the back seat of my father’s van while hearing him rant about my mother. He was lecturing me about how women will slow you down and that it’s best to never get married. This was my father’s way of initiating his misogyny onto me. I felt uncomfortable hearing him tell me this stuff, but I would use his warnings later on in life through my writings and how I viewed women. It’s unfortunate that my father viewed women so harshly…
