Outtalent (YC19) helps outstanding engineers around the world realize their potential on a global scale, independent of what’s said on their passports.. We operate under Income Shared Agreements, in which clients pay only pay if they get a job in a company of their choice.

In 2023 we’ll run batches for Backend engineers, and we’ll admit engineers who want to get remote jobs or immigrate. Spots are limited to 10 per batch, and the next batch will start on January 10th.

✍️ To be eligible, engineers must:

  • have 2+ years of full-time work experience as backend engineer (preferably after graduating)
  • have advanced knowledge in data structures and algorithms
  • preferably, have had some practical experience with systems design

⛳️ Our application was designed to find candidates who will add value and grow with our community

Here are the steps all Outtalent fellows have to complete to join:

  1. Eligibility check. Candidates fill out a 2-min form (www.outtalent.com/check) to see if Outtalent is right for them.
  2. CodeSignal test. You will get a link to a test with of 4 problems to complete in 140 minutes, you’ll need at least 750/850 points to succeed.
  3. Deep dive. You’ll answer questions about yourself and your experience. We’ll pay attention to your thought process, values and goals.
  4. Trial. The next step will be a 4-week trial, in which you will set and achieve goals investing a least 15 hours/week on program-related tasks.
  5. Technical interview. Next, you will be interviewed either by our staff or by alumni, who will assess your distributed systems design skills.
  6. Co-founder meetings. We use these to learn more about how candidates think, their values, and their goals.
  7. Quiz. If you pass interviews and complete the trial with at least 15 hours/week, you will receive our NDA, our contract, and a quiz to ensure you understand the service.

🛤️ Our online program lasts 4-months and it’s led by engineers and engineering managers

We aim to ramp up technical knowledge of distributed system design, algorithms, and data structures while also improving soft skills such as communication and storytelling, all needed for interviews at tech companies around the world.

Here’s a summary of what we cover:

  • Algorithms: theory and practice through live seminars with mentors, curated problems lists, peer-to-peer mock interviews, and two exams
  • Systems Design: in addition to exploring the theory, we hold live seminars for group discussion, peer-to-peer mocks, and exams
  • Resume and Behavioral Prep: focused on soft skills, including resume writing , stories review sessions, mock interviews, and an exam
  • Application Strategy and Referrals: based on performance, we support fellows in shortlisting positions and referrals within the community
  • Ongoing Support: from group weekly check-ins to mentor office hours, to all-hands and alumni talks, we build a supportive environment
