Outtalent

Outtalent is a mentorship program focused on people’s careers and inspired by startup accelerators like YCombinator. We are an online career accelerator designed to help software engineers get jobs at top 10 companies.

We operate under a model called Income Shared Agreement (ISA), in which fellows pay nothing before or while they are in the program. Instead, they only pay if they get a job in a top 10 company of their choice.

The program

Our online program for backend and iOS engineers is 4-months long and it's led by engineers and engineering managers from companies like Google, Facebook, and Stripe. The goal is to ramp up knowledge of distributed system design, algorithms, and data structures. During the program, fellows also work on their writing and storytelling skills, which will help with behavioral interviews, and get salary negotiation support.

We are looking for ambitious engineers who want to land jobs at the world’s top tech companies. To be eligible, they must have 2+ years of full-time work experience or an impressive engineering accomplishment, as well as advanced theoretical knowledge in their domain of expertise (backend or iOS).

Check out what the application process is like:

  1. Eligibility check. We ask candidates to fill out a simple 2-minute form that will help us understand if Outtalent is the best choice for them.
  2. CodeSignal test. We assess our candidates' coding skills. It's 4 problems, and candidates should spend around 1 hour on it.
  3. iOS Challenge. If candidates are applying for the iOS track, we will send them an iOS challenge they need to solve.
  4. Technical interview. You will be interviewed either by our staff or by an alumni, who will assess your distributed systems design skills.
  5. Co-founder meetings. We learn more about how candidates think, their values and goals. They ask us questions about the program.
  6. Trial. We invite candidates for a 2-week trial in which we will see if they can spend the minimum 15 hours/week in program-related tasks.

We make it a point of giving constructive feedback after each stage so candidates know what we expected and also how to improve.
