The problem in Pali, Rajasthan
Pali district is in the heart of the desert region of Rajasthan and has a population of about 2 million people. They get less than 4 –10 inches of rain in a good monsoon season and due to the lack of water, no irrigable land. This leads to mass migration where families are split and a majority of people head towards cities like Jaipur, Udaipur or Jodhpur.

Collaboration and intervention
Overseas Volunteers for a Better India (OVBI) partnered with Aakar Foundation in 2019 and identified 5 locations for pilot projects.

An agreement made up of 1/3 OVBI, 1/3 Local Communities, and 1/3 by the Aakar Foundation…

About OVBI and its Ecosystem

Partnering closely with government bodies, ex-ISRO scientists, other NGOs and local communities, OVBI has helped by de-silting bodies of water, building micro-dams, and recharge wells in rural areas most distressed by water issues.

This year, we are on our way to meeting our target of building water infrastructures in 105 villages, creating more than 1.5 billion gallons of water capacity impacting 160,000 individuals in Indian states of Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Karanataka, and Rajasthan.

Building off of this foundation and on-ground experiences, OVBI is on a mission to Eliminate Water Poverty in 5000 villages by 2023. We hope to scale it to the entire nation by 2030.

OVBI Ecosystem in 2019

Our vision is to transform India from a state of water poverty to water plenty by 2030.
