If you’re into action movies, cars, or both, then you’ll undoubtedly remember the opening sequence of Baby Driver. Starring a Red 2006 ‘Hawk-Eye’ Subaru Impreza, lead actor Ansel Elgort seems to enjoy the car’s interior ergonomics to the tunes of his iPod.

Amusing as the scene may be (wipers flailing in the process), Baby’s dance moves are cut short as his accomplices emerge from the bank, allowing him to indulge in what surely must be his second biggest passion after music— driving.

Blasting off in reverse, Baby takes Atlanta’s Finest on a six-minute car chase, complete with handbrake turns, vomit-inducing slides and the occasional jump thrown in for good measure.

Enthusiasts will be reaching for the ‘replay’ button on their remotes here, and rightly so.

It’s an epic chase scene, capable of giving classics like the Eleanor chase scene from Gone In Sixty Seconds a run for their money.

Low Mileage. Might Need A New Set Of Tyres

At least two, identical cars were used in the production of the movie, one of which is currently up for grabs on eBay. At the time of writing, the car is sitting at $34,600 with just 5 hours left on the clock.

Although it might sound like a lot of money for a used 2006 car, it’s only around half of what its sister car sold for back in 2017. The identical red Subaru sold for $69,100 after receiving 71 bids in rapid succession. To put the numbers into perspective, a pedestrian-spec Subaru Impreza of the same year in similar condition is currently listed for sale for under $7000.

Full Extras

As you can imagine, neither of the movie cars are exactly as they left the factory. Both have hydraulic handbrakes, WRX STI drivetrains, tougher differentials, forged pistons and Exedy Stage 1 clutches, among other modifications. Judging by their on-screen performance, it’s also safe to assume that both cars can be converted to rear-wheel drive to be able to pull off monumental powerslides.

Suddenly, $34,600 sounds like a bit of a bargain. Happy Bidding!
