Pentax prototyped world’s first full frame digital SLR: Yes, you read it right! It was years before Nikon and Canon achieved this feat. In 1975, Steven Sasson invented the world’s first digital camera which lacked full frame digital sensor. Grabbing the opportunity, Pentax got on board with Philips electronics corporation to develop world’s first full frame DSLR and created MZ-D. After the first screening of the device at world’s largest trade fair, MZ-D created a lot of buzz in the market. Unfortunately, it never got materialized in production apparently because of Pentax’s discontentment with the performance of Philips sensor.
