5 Haryana Steelers players to watch out for this season

ASHISH CHHOKAR: Ashish, who hails from Panipat, is a product of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Sonepat, Haryana. Ashish’s raiding skills have helped him, and his teammates win Gold at the Junior Nationals, 2012. A stellar performance at the Senior Nationals for Punjab earned him a call-up for the Pro Kabaddi League, Season 2, with the Bengaluru Bulls. Due to an injury, he was forced out of the game, until now. Well rested, he is raring to go and wants to prove his mettle in the Pro Kabaddi League, Season 5.

DEEPAK KUMAR DAHIYA: Deepak is another player to emerge from the famed SAI, Sonepat. He picked up the sport when he was in sixth grade when a few friends asked him to try it out. He’s been raiding ever since and how. Running and lifting weights are his tactics to stay fit, with an added emphasis on flexibility. Deepak is a raider and has had 55 successful raids in his PKL history.

PRASHANTH KUMAR RAI: Arguably the wisest raider in the dressing room, Prashant is a hero for many in his home state of Karnataka. He is among the few players in the circuit to have a fan club on Twitter, run by ardent fans. Prashant spent the first three seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League with the Telugu Titans, before making a switch to Dabang Delhi.

MOHIT CHHILLAR: Amiable and outgoing, this Nizampur lad has already become one of the legends of PKL, and at a young age. A dominant presence at Left Corner, Mohit’s quick thinking, mighty arms and a strong core have trapped dozens of raiders through the last four seasons of Pro Kabaddi League. Last year, he was also part of Anup Kumar’s team India that won the Kabaddi World Cup in Ahmedabad.

WAZIR SINGH: Having claimed 169 raiding points in his two seasons with Puneri Paltan, Wazir was one of the biggest names in the league until destiny laid out other plans; he was forced-out due to an injury. Although he was picked by Dabang Delhi in season 3, he could not play a single game. He is now raring to go and planning a spirited comeback with his home team.
