Remnants of a typhoon clobbering the coast of Oregon made for a wet and windy Descend on Bend which made it even more awesome! We went down with 6 close friends and enjoyed hanging out around (and in) Hole-in-the-Ground with 200+ other campers most of the VW van variety. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and happy to talk about camping, overlanding, van living and just plain ole dirt bagging. Everyone was very curious about the Fuso + Oliver combo. The highlight for me was night two. Seven of us warm, dry and merry in Ollie when several of my friends proclaimed that they moved from questioning or even outright disdain for my decision to build an off-road “RV” to thinking it was a brilliant idea and being in full support.

A classic. I love the fire wood stuffed under the front bumper.
Looking East from the rim you can see Fort Rock, Oregon.
Looking down into the crater.
Cute old VW!
Not everything was an old VW.
Well appointed Syncro.
Long line of vans camping out. Note Ford and Mitsubishi nose to nose.
Winch and all.
Huge Ford by VanDesl.
Commercial sized outdoor grill.
Cool old Chinook.
The Oliver trailer looks so small from the outside but it’s so well designed. 7 of us had a ball for many hours.
Awesome seeing some pedal power at the event, bonus it’ folding and a long-tail.
