Winetasting, swimming, camping and off-roading around the Columbia Gorge.

Lyle is on the Washington side of the Gorge about 20 minutes East of Hood River. Being further East provides it with a bit more sun than Portland, Stevenson and White Salmon. It’s a wonderful area for wine tasting especially if you’d like something less expensive and less crowded than the Willamette Valley.

There are four main wineries that are all with in 5 or so miles of each other. We enjoyed wine tasting, swimming, exploring some back roads and camping with some amazing views.

Syncline Vineyards is a little slice of paradise.
Farmlife.
View from our roof-top tent on the first night of camping.
Hotbox exploring some of the seasonal roads.
Second night camping high up on a peak. Looking North you see Mt Adams.
Same camping spot and to the South you see Mt. Hood.
Same spot at night you can see all the lights from Hood River to the South.
Over 100 degrees with no AC in our 1976 Volvo so we were happy to find a river for swimming!
