Introducing The $50M Overwolf Creator Fund
At Overwolf we believe that not only are community-created experiences key to the future of games, but they benefit everybody in the ecosystem. In-game creators can earn a living from their passion, gamers get new game experiences, and developers can safely and easily level up their titles. We envision an ecosystem where the community of mod authors and in-game app creators can join forces with game developers to create anything from stats, companion apps, and trackers via in-game apps or addons, customizations, to completely new worlds.
We’ve been working to make this vision a reality over the last decade, by supporting and nurturing thousands of creators ranging from single developers to established companies, all with the shared goal of creating cutting-edge tools that push the UGC boundaries. Aside from the tech platform, Overwolf offers creators services like QA and testing by pro gamers, technical support, development resources, and marketing solutions which allow creators to solely focus on building the best app and mods they can. Additionally, we are proud to share that we provided financial support to 59 in-game creators via a joint $7M fund with Intel.
We are thrilled to announce that we are doubling down on UGC and launching a $50M Creator Fund for mod authors, game studios, and in-game app creators. This is the first-ever fund solely dedicated to building the ecosystem for community-created experiences and we are honored to support our community of creators and game studios in leading the way.
One goal of this fund is to take modding to the next level by enabling games studios to easily integrate mods safely and seamlessly into their new games. For game studios, in addition to capital, portfolio studios will have early access to CurseForge Core which will enable them to easily integrate mods safely and seamlessly into their new games. Not only will game studios increase the longevity of their titles, but gamers will have a seamless, high quality, and curated experience without the need to hop between sites and manage the files on disk.
Community-created experiences are becoming a critical part of gaming, and the game studios we work with are harnessing its power to thrive in the next era of games. We feel privileged to work with game studios to set the stage for empowering creators to become involved with the development of the games they love in a safe and effective way.
For mod authors and in-game app creators, in addition to financial support, they will also gain access to mentorship, acceleration, and marketing services via our newly launched Acceleration Team. The purpose of the Acceleration Team is to connect with the in-game creator to help solve brand, UI, UX, and development bottlenecks to help them, well, accelerate time-to-market. It’s no secret that building great products requires creativity and experience and we work with our partners to add value by exploring new and innovative ways to deliver game experiences, new APIs, and tech capabilities.
