Welly Hosts an Online Yoga Event
The International Yoga Day designated by the UN is celebrated despite COVID-19 restrictions on outdoor activities. This year’s theme is “Yoga for well-being” and most yogis are celebrating it online. On the occasion of the Yoga Day celebration, Welly, a Korean startup that focuses on making mindful wellness a part of our life, builds a virtual retreat village using the virtual spatial platform oVice to host an online event to practice yoga, meditate, and talk about the art of mindfulness.
The event was held on the afternoon of June 20 under the theme of “Mindful Moments: Relaxation for Everyday Life”. During the event, participants joined globally to learn new relaxation techniques, practice yoga, and meditate in the virtual space.
Kim Ji-Hyeon, the manager of Welly Brand Marketing Team, who planned this event, said, “The more time people spend inside oVice virtual space, the more interest they get in Metaverse and I want you to experience it too,” he said.
A Retreat Village is Built on oVice Virtual Space
Featuring customizable elements, oVice virtual space can easily be turned into any place you have in mind. From remote offices, academic campuses, party venues, or even a cat cafe, oVice users can personalize the space however they like. For this particular event, Welly hit the record high and designed a whole village for their event. The virtual space layout is divided into different areas to enjoy different activities simultaneously.
Participants who connected on oVice through the pre-registration event link get to experience Welly’s real-time yoga coaching service in the yoga zone and participate in the ‘Yoga and Relaxation Talk Session’ with Welly Yoga Teacher. In addition, people can freely visit the ‘Meditation Zone’ where they can have a quiet time alone with the sounds of nature, and the ‘Brand Zone’ where they can receive gifts from wellness brands to experience programs and enjoy the pleasure of the metaverse communicating with like-minded people.
Event Program
- Opening Remarks The first 30 min is dedicated to welcome and thank the participants for coming along with giving a brief explanation about the startup and the event schedule.
- Yoga Class Guided by Welly Yoga teacher, the yoga class lasted for 30 min. Each participant virtually sat on their yoga mat and linked to the meeting object in the middle to view the yoga instructor and at the same time follow along with yoga postures.
- Talk After a short break, participants move to the zen area to talk about mindfulness and listen to relaxation music in the background.
- Tea Time The Tea Time session is held for the participants to enjoy the rest of the event time, share feedback, and chill around the retreat village.
What is oVice and How Does it Work?
