It’s time once again for another CryptSolitaire update! Take a look at some of our team’s top 9 accomplishments last month.

1. Bicol IT Blockchain Meetup 0x2

Last August 3, we conducted our second Blockchain Meetup in partnership with Bicol IT, Onlicoin, SparkPoint, and Ctrl Alt Work. Unlike the first meetup where only a few attended, this time around the venue was full! Thanks to SparkPoint’s surprise announcement of an airdrop of their SRK token to attendees of the event.

Harvey Javier, Lead Mobile Developer of SparkPoint, discussing their cryptocurrency wallet

The meetup started with a talk from Harvey Javier, Lead Mobile Developer of SparkPoint. He discussed how they developed their cryptocurrency wallet app in just 2 months. He also sent out 65,000 SRKs to each of the attendees after they installed the SparkPoint wallet on their Android phones. This was worth around ₱300 during the meetup but climbed to around ₱700 by the start of September.

Our very own Aldrick Bonaobra, CryptoSolitaire’s Blockchain Developer, also talked about Non-Fungible Tokens. This is the technology that powers our playing card decks. He discussed how it differs from fungible tokens like Bitcoin, Ether, SparkPoint and other cryptocurrencies.

After the two technical talks, a panel discussion followed. The panel included the speakers, Harvey and Aldrick, and Onlicoin’s founder, Michael Alcala. Our Head of Technology, Rico Zuñiga served as moderator. The audience asked questions on regulatory compliance, avoiding scams, and the future of Bicol region as a potential Blockchain development hub.

2. Radio Guesting at DWRK 98.7 with Mr. Rey B. Camarquiz

Last August 4, just a day after the meetup, CryptoSolitaire co-founders Rico and Ismael, joined a live radio show hosted by Mr. Rey Camarquiz. The three of them talked about Blockchain and Cryptocurrency technologies, use cases, adoption, investing, and avoiding scams. Watch the recorded session here.

3. Playing Card Deck is Complete

Chen Naje, our inaugural deck artist, has done it! Chen has finished our first ever NFT playing card deck and presented us his masterpiece last August 12. Chen is well known to his 31.9k followers on Instagram as @chenandink. Read more about the thought process and concepts behind this masterpiece in our Medium post.

4. Ibalong Epic: Story of Baltog an Augmented Reality Experience

Our Head of Marketing, Ismael Jerusalem, organized and conducted the first Augment Reality art exhibit featuring the local epic of Ibalong last August 17–18 at Ayala Malls Legazpi. This is the first of its kind in the Philippines. An innovative combination of creativity and cutting edge technology.

The CryptoSolitaire team also participated in the event as a merchant. We were the only one selling digital art, all the rest were selling physical merchandise! Our Head of Technology, Rico Zuñiga, also gave a quick talk about what cryptoart is, how it works, and how it will benefit the art world.
