New NFT Collectibles: Ownly x Lei Melendres

For Ownly’s first collaboration, we are working with doodle artist and professional illustrator Lei Melendres to create a set of collectibles that we will launch this March.

Each of his artwork will be turned into a Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT)

Collectors can purchase his CryptoArt individually or they can buy the whole set. The first collector to purchase all of Lei’s Cryptoart this quarter will receive a reward — an illustration with all the characters in the collection.

However, before we talk about his ongoing collaboration with Ownly, Let’s take a look first at his art style, clients, organization, and publications.

Art Style and Services

Lei is a multi-faceted artist. Although his main focus is digital illustration, he also includes traditional illustration, mural work, product design, and toy customization in his services.

The 31-year-old artist coined a term for his art style. He named it “Infinity Mix” because of the mixture of endless elements and details interacting together to form a scene.

Past Clients and Collaborations

Lei served multiple local and international clients. He has worked with NBA Store, Samsonite Red Philippines, Capital PH, Rhinoshield, Asus PH, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Kipling, Lazada SG, G-Shock PH, Globe, Daniel Wellington, WWF Philippines.

Car brands including Mini Cooper, Mazda Philippines, and Mazda Japan and establishments which include SM MOA, Megaworld, Bonifacio Global City Taguig, ASPACE MNL, and American Embassy PH are also on his long list of clients.

Art companies Sharpie, Stabilo, Caran d’ Ache, Faber Castell, Tombow, and Dong-A also took notice of Lei’s talents and chose his work to represent their brand.

Organizations and Publication

Aside from being busy with his illustrations, Lei spent time promoting the local art scene and help other local artists by being the head of Doodle Art Enthusiasts (DAE). It is the Philippines’ largest doodling community from 2012 to 2019. Under his leadership, DAE has grown to over 40 clients and more than 2,000 members.

Lei also co-founded and became creative director for Doodle Arts Magazine in the last quarter of 2014. The publication focused on promoting the doodle art movement. It later turned into a design agency called Side Hustle Inc. where he worked with a small team to cater to bigger brands as a creative director.

Published Books

Lei launched his 1st coloring book “Zifflin Doodle Fusion” in late 2015, which is already available in 8 countries. A big publishing company in New York launched two more of his coloring books last July 2016.

And his 4th and latest coloring book was launched in 2017 entitled, “Exploratorium”.

Ownly’s Upcoming Events with Lei

With Lei’s background and his passion for the promotion of local art, we are proud that he will be Ownly’s inaugural artist.

He will make 20 characters and each illustration will have a different corresponding value.
