With the CPA participants of the Seminar on Blockchain Technology, Cryptocurrency, and Digital Marketing

Last Saturday, July 20, 2019, the CryptoSolitaire team’s Head of Technology, Rico Zuñiga, and Head of Marketing, Ismael Jerusalem, were invited to talk during the Seminar on Blockchain Technology, Cryptocurrency, and Digital Marketing at Casablanca Convention Center. This event is part of the celebration of Accountancy Week, organized by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Albay Chapter.

Rico Zuñiga discussing Blockchain technology fundamentals

Rico first introduced the concept of Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies. He highlighted its advantages and disadvantages from a financial point of view to appeal to the CPAs in attendance. He also made a clear point on the problems that it solves, particularly the double spending problem.

Rico also presented SparkPoint, a decentralized payment gateway and cryptocurrency similar to Bitcoin. He emphasized the value of trust by demonstrating the different approaches with the help of a few volunteers. This includes one to one trust, trust with a middle man, and distributed trust.

By the end of the presentation, he announced that SparkPoint will be giving away ₱250 worth of SRK to the attendees to experience cryptocurrencies first hand. They just need to like or follow SparkPoint’s Facebook page to be notified of the release of the SparkPoint cryptocurrency wallet. As a last step, the attendees need to download the SparkPoint app from the Google Play Store, create an SRK wallet, then email a screenshot of their address QR code.

After Rico’s talk, everyone took a short break for snacks and to freshen up. The guests were served delicious carbonara and iced tea.

After the break, it’s time for Ismael’s turn to discuss Digital Marketing. He highlighted how serving and helping others achieve their goals is better than forcing a sale.

He also said that it’s better to have an audience than a customer. The audience always give their best resource to us, which is their time.

Isma emphasized that social media is not a license to spam. He also mentioned that it is important to teach while you learn because it is a way of giving back to the community. You don’t have to wait to become an expert to start teaching. Seek progress, not perfection.

Ismael Jerusalem discussing Digital Marketing

The seminar ended around five in the afternoon. We hope everyone will take away actionable insights from the two talks.

We would like to thank PICPA Albay Chapter especially its President, Mylene V. Lizaso, CPA and Carlo Pinto, CPA for inviting us.
