Okay, so we all know that burgers are amazing. Personally I typically have two burgers per week because my grandma makes them and they are delicious. Unfortunately, I can’t continue this because beef, or just cows in general, are hurting the Earth’s environment. For my Do One Thing (DOT) project I’m not going to eat red meat, which includes beef, pork and lamb.

Cows produce a great amount of a gas called methane, a greenhouse gas (GHG) that is 23 times more impactful than CO2. Also, it costs so much to just make one burger. If you want a more detailed explanation go to that site. But in a quick way to explain it is that to make a pound of beef it takes 2,500 gallons of water, 12 pounds of grain, 35 pounds of topsoil and the energy equivalent of one gallon of gasoline to make one pound of beef .

I think that we should all lay off the beef or meat in general because even though CO2 is one of the main reasons that the Earth is warming up, methane is more dangerous and a threat to us, so I think that we should eat more veggies and fruits because we want to stay alive on this planet. I also am worried about the fact that that red meat can have bad affects on you and your health, like heart disease, diabetes, etc.

In conclusion you should try to do the do one thing project if you’re not already doing it because it can make an impact on the Earth and it’s environments and help us save our earth and be able to sustain life and us. We need to change the way we live because if we don’t we won’t be able to live on this planet anymore and that would be terrible.
