Hi my name is Colin Merino and I’m a student trying the DOT (do one thing) project the main goal of this project is to reduce the amount of damage we are doing to our planet. There are many ways of achieving this goal the way I chose is to change my lifestyle and go vegetarian to try to reduce the amount of methane that is being released from the cows we eat.

These are the reasons why I decided to go vegetarian.

The first reason is because over all its healthier since most unhealthy foods contain something to do with animals and other things that are bad for you not only that you can most likely get more nutrition such as vitamins etc and too much meat is just bad for you.

The second is saving the environment since cows release something called methane and that is one of the biggest contributors to climate change. An example from npr says “In 2011, methane from livestock accounted for 39 percent of all the greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture”. meaning cows are causing most of the damage and here are some more facts to support that “Unfortunately, methane is a big contributor to the greenhouse effect, helping to trap heat within Earth’s atmosphere and contributing to climate change “. that quote comes from forbes. Meaning the animal we love to eat are destroying the planet.

The third reason is I wanted to try something new especially since nowadays i’m eating mainly meat and I think it’s time for some change and to branch out and see what a healthier options and alternatives to the regular foods I eat that are causing harm to the environment.

In conclusion I think we all should try to either go vegetarian or try to reduce or switch to different foods as the problems they produce is out of hand and if we did we could make a huge difference for our future.
