half is better than none

It’s Been Two Weeks!

--

It’s been two weeks since I have started my Do One Thing project and it has been really successful. If you read my last post, you probably know that I am taking shorter showers. After reading many documents and watching many videos about why we should save water, I noticed that this is something that everyone in my community should do. I wanted to start with my sister so I told her about it and she loved this idea. She is now taking shorter showers than she use to take and she is happy to know that she is doing her part to make the world a better place. I had not thought about competing with my sister but I did want to set a goal for myself every week and challenge myself to do better every time.

In the first week, I wanted to set a realistic goal for myself so I started off with 10 minutes. I put a timer on for 10 minutes to time myself in the shower (so that my data was accurate). This helped me be aware of the time and how long I was taking in the shower. On the next week I went on and aimed for 8 minutes. I did realize that it started to get hard because I was getting used to taking 10 minute showers, so in the first two or three days I took longer than 8 minutes but less than 10. Even though it does not look like much, I actually save gallons of water in those two to three minutes.

As I mentioned before, I did some research about why I should take short showers and I found two very interesting things I would love to share with you:

Hope you take this advice. Remember that change always starts with you.
