For my DOT project I’m doing composting. Food waste, as most of us know, currently makes up about 30 percent of what we throw away. Composting keeps these material out of landfills where they make up space and release methane (a potent greenhouse gas).

Now a days, farmers use chemical fertilizers to provide the essential nutrients required for optimum growth, which is a good thing, but why is it harmful? Chemical fertilizers have several harmful effects. These several harmful effects include waterway pollution, chemical burn to crops, and increasing air pollution. Over-application of chemical fertilizers can cause chemical leaf scorch. This condition can cause the leaves of the plants to wither and may cause the plant to die, which reduces crop yield. Overuse can lead to soil acidification because of a decrease in organic matter in the soil.
