Skrr Skrrr!! Around DC to go home
How to ride a Fruit (limes) home and bonus — it’s great for the environment
Imagine this scenario. You’re not so tired. You could walk but it would take forever to get there. There is option two where you could take a car. Since I live in a DC neighborhood called Petworth, I usually take a car or bus from school to my grandma’s house. Before this project, I would do option two without a doubt because walking my distance is impossible even if I’m not tired so if I’m tired it’s a no-brainer until I learned this: Did you know that according to the EPA 28% of greenhouse gas emissions come due to transportation, which is the highest factor tied with electricity?
Mrs. Riggen (our 8th grade science teacher) introduced us to the Do One Thing Project (DOT). So with the newly found evidence mentioned above, I decided to find an alternative form of transportation so I turned to electric scooting (Lime S Scooters). I will travel home from school on a scooter instead of traveling in a car that emits carbon dioxide and contributes to global warming on Earth and will have devastating effects in our daily lives such as stronger and more frequent hurricanes.
So since I’m trying to get an A+ in science — and I guess to save the world from climate change — for these four weeks I’m going to ride this 12 miles per hour scooter around OA to go to my grandma’s house.
As a plus, it seems a bit more refreshing scooting around DC instead of the regular car ride. Also, obviously this ride doesn’t emit any nasty pollutants or carbon dioxide so yay!
In conclusion, Follow me on my journey as I ride a Lime from Oyster Adams to my grandma’s house and whenever you see one of these scooters you can now think of Dionis Martinez. Sounds like these next few weeks are going to be very “juicy.” No, but seriously leave a clap and join me on my Lime journey to, you know, save our planet and all from climate change but no biggie.
