This project turns me on 💡💡
Changing my light bulbs to energy-efficient LEDs
When I heard that I had to change something in my lifestyle to help global warming for science class, I honestly had no idea for what to do. My parents shot down the idea for me to go vegan or vegetarian and I already live a pretty green lifestyle, so I kind of had a dilemma. But then it dawned on me — my house is really old so the light bulbs must not be very efficient. I thought, “Why don’t I change the light bulbs to make them more energy efficient?”
At first this seemed like a pretty daunting task because I didn’t really know how I could record the time the light bulbs were on and I couldn’t think of anything else to measure. I then realized that I could just get my family members to record and I could do a minimal amount of work. So I put sheets up with a pencil next to every light switch in the five rooms I would change the light bulbs in. SO far in the baseline week, it’s been going really well. I really like this idea for my DOT project because it’s something that won’t just stop after the month ends — this one probably will — and I can sustain it.
