Week Two: Recent progress And Realizations

During my DOT project I have spent a lot of time trying to reduce my use of fossil fuels by trying to walk to places within walking distance instead of using a car. I have also tried to use public transportation more because it is a better alternative than using a car. Also I have had many realizations about my DOT project.

At first I thought that this project would be very difficult and that I wasn’t going to be able to do this. However, after a couple of weeks it has become an easy task that everyone should be doing. By either catching the bus or walking to places instead of using a car consistently, this new routine has become like second nature to me.

Public transportation is better than using a car because it saves energy due to the fact that many people are on one bus together instead of using many cars separately.

I also realized that coal, oil, and natural gas are called fossil fuels because they come from the fossilized remains of plants and animals that lived a long time ago.

In conclusion, during my DOT project I have had realizations and there was progress made. My DOT project can be an easy task for anyone who has the ambition to try it.

Stay tuned for my final post to read a recap on my DOT project experience and to see the total greenhouse gas emissions I have reduced by walking and using public transportation.
