I have been inspired to do this project when I noticed how much water I consume everyday. My mom gets very mad when I take a long time in the shower. This project also connects to me because I take very long showers and I would like to change that. For my DOT project I will start taking shorter showers.

After having a very long day, coming back home after work, school, a hot nice long shower is very useful to relax yourself. But it also affects the country. Boston University shows how long showers affect the environment in various ways. The average American uses 25,300 gallons of water a year. That would be 69.3 gallons daily. If you take shorter showers this would really help. You can help by reducing your waste of water in the shower. An average shower uses about 5 gallons of water per minute. If you make your shower shorter by 2 minutes, you can cut your water use by 10 gallons. You can also reduce your time in the shower by turning the water off when soaping.

The actions that I’m making are impacting the price of the water bill. By doing this project I can reduce the amount of water I’m using, while this happens I will also reduce the price that my mom pays for the water bill.
