Oyster Development Update, Exchange Info, and More
Development Update
Today’s development update will focus on the week of June 10–15th.
This week, the development team has been working on QA fixes for web node and broker node interactions. Additionally, the team has written some grifts to allow the team to easily seed the DB with dummy data and manipulate data in the DB, to simplify QAing. The team also added a server-side file size limit so that 3rd party clients cannot bypass Oyster’s file size limit and the team has created a wiki for development to aid in documenting the many moving parts of the Oyster protocol.
The team worked on the further integration of a key-value database, Badger, on the broker nodes to move binary blobs out from the current SQL database. This database was previously a bottle-neck, and by implementing this key-value database, the team will be able to increase the efficiency of the system’s architecture. This DB integration will help immensely with increasing the current file size limit. In addition, the team worked on transaction processing for ETH, and PRLs with confirmations to ensure integrity, as well as building more unit tests for the broker node Ethereum.
Further work was completed on the streamable library for Oyster, which will help developers work with the Oyster protocol in the future. Additionally, the team has begun integrating this data streaming library into the upload and download mechanisms of the Oyster Storage web interface. Finally, the team optimized their webpack environment to increase efficiency and reduce the webpack file’s size, as well as investigated several outstanding bugs that were reported by Sentry.
The development team focused heavily on infrastructure discussions this week, which lead to proposals that will open up Oyster to a wider range of applications and use cases in the future.

We are excited to announced that Oyster was featured in the latest issue of Rowlingstone Weekly that was released today. Our CMO, Chris Garner, held an in-depth interview with the RS team and shared a lot of color around our vision and the Oyster protocol as a whole.
Exchange Listings
Oyster continues to aggressively pursue high quality exchange listings. We have signed a definitive agreement with a Top-20 volume exchange. We will have further information regarding the listing date and exchange after we complete technical testing. We plan to have additional announcements regarding listings later this month.
