Chained, the electric fence at Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Poland. I captured this photograph just past the entrance of the Auschwitz camp, the electric fence is a familiar sight around the camp and aided the imprisonment of millions of people. I try to imagine a strong electric current passing through this fence and whilst walking around the camp you hear stories of prisoners deliberately killing themselves by touching the fence.

Electric fences were used to guard the concentration camps of Nazi Germany during World War II, where potentially lethal voltages and currents were employed, continuously rather than in pulses. Some prisoners used the electric barbed wire fence to commit suicide. — Wikipedia
