A Belated Epiphany

Recalling the days,
where star-struck eyes, and quivering lips
once vouched
for an endearment for one.

Prolonged acts
to preserve a happiness, one long lost
“For everyone’s sake” —
the only ultimatum.

Cascading laughter at first,
blemished by a hint of frown the next.
Unveiling shenanigans before a crowd
taught many lessons for life.

A former pinnacle,
now a bitter sentiment —
a belated epiphany
I reminisce now and then.
