Enraptured
Palpable connection twangs between us
Cupid’s potion swirls in my blood,
its potency inebriating every sense
I read poetic phrases spilling
from a single shared glance,
an almost complicit us
Each stray brushing replayed,
each micrometer of contact
analysed and woven into
a tender tapestry
You wear a cologne I once loved,
this meagre coincidence
I take for further evidence
of the melding of minds,
a portent of a future, our future
I squander long moments
painting you into scenes,
drafting every word,
expunging any prospective tiffs,
spinning fog into castles
steadier than this spinning world
And down on Earth, subject to Time,
Cupid’s potion, solely air-fed, withers
the cloying alarm reminds me
rapture is but a utopian high;
now swearing to try sobriety,
I embark on a bridge to you,
fingers crossed the rot’s reversible
