Large jade heart pendant

dangled from a gold chain,

lying on a breathing chest,

with its heart underneath

mangled from too many

heartaches with no remedies.

Jade heart necklace:

a witness of battles lost,

comments dripped from mouths,

temperatures of irrational thinking;

it’s a witness as it lives above

the heart.

Jade heart necklace:

a precious stone that is stronger

than fire. It’s impossible

for it to be charred. It’s poetry

without words or any images.

It’s a mere shade of green,

getting wiser.

It stands for one vow

after having been touched

by the fingers of a dead grandfather;

a hope that the jade heart necklace

isn’t one to betray.
