As I arrive, a friend tells me you’ve just left
I leave the party, take a taxi — to your place
You call me saying Uber just dropped you off — at my place.
Hurrying over, I see you, I jump out. You see me, you rush out.
I reach to hug you but you sneeze so uncontrollably
I burst out laughing, you feel embarrassed, unamused, barely smiling
I wipe my shirt, you wipe your eyes
You reach, to hold my hand
But my phone vibrates so I stretch to grab it
You’re not upset with me, but I think you probably are
I lean in to kiss you, but you start talking
I go into the bedroom, turn the light off
You walk into the room, turn the light on
I’m not avoiding you yet you feel at odds with me
Now, I’m ready to talk but you’re done talking
You’re eating all my food, while your food is getting cold,
I should get my own cup but yours tastes better
You undress, get in the shower. I undress, turn on the washer.
You scream my name, while I’m singing with my earbuds.
To the rest of the world, we’re mutually dysfunctional
In our world, it’s just another Saturday, loving unconditional.
