you share so much of

your mind, your body.

you invest so much of

your energy, your time, your money.

the things you have.

for once, you feel understood

for once, you feel like sharing your deepest self.

your secrets, your conundrums.

you do it all because it made sense, once.

and then the expiration date comes,

the fire burns out.

you walk your own way, he walks his own way.

away.

shame and regret

upon once sharing way too much

to the one who is now a stranger carrying your story

to not one, to not two

but more than a few.

illusions, temporary highs.

thank you, but now I only long for eternal ties.
