Tsunami
When I look back at it, I remember.
I remember that I could have run.
I could have turned my back on that force of nature.
I could have forgotten poetry —
a wave of mountainous proportions.
I could have been safe, happy and loved.
I could have let go and carried on.
I could have surrendered to life, accepted death
and been immersed in God.
But I looked at you and I saw.
