Hey PS I Love You fam,

Dan here, former editor of PS.

First, gotta tell ya: The PS team and I miss y’all dearly. I hope everyone reading this is staying healthy and doing well!

I’m hopping back into your mailbox for two reasons:

  1. To give everyone a small update on what the team has been up to
  2. To share something new that me and a handful of your favorite former PS columnists have been cooking up 🤟

First, the updates. Though I’m sorry to say that the team won’t be starting PS back up anytime soon, the PS brain trust has been doing some fun stuff that we’re excited to share. Here’s the rundown:

  • Our former social media guru (and newly-minted Chicago resident) Scott Muska has recently finished his first book, I Thought This Was Worth Sharing: Stories And Some Other Stuff About Love And Some Other Stuff. Published by Fourth Bar Books, it’ll drop later in 2022. Wanna stay in the know? Follow him on Twitter or Instagram, or send him an email at srm5082@gmail.com.
  • Kay — a.k.a. the queen of PS — is loving life down in beautiful New Orleans, and has several(!) books she’s put out that you can dive into, if you’re interested. You can follow her here for new releases. Her latest is titled HE’S NOT MY BOYFRIEND. It comes out on Harlequin in 2023.
  • Tre meanwhile, has been a writer possessed, and has been putting out beautiful fiction, nonfiction, and poetry nonstop pretty much since PS closed down. You can find her on Medium — both her OG account and a new one, titled Soliloque — as well as Simily. Bring your tissues.

As for me, I’ve been writing. Mostly for the San Francisco Chronicle and The Ringer; my first piece for The Ringer will be out before the end of the month. You can check for it on my Twitter.

Now, the announcement! I’ve partnered with a few of PS I Love You’s most popular and beloved columnists on a new project …

It’s a weekly newsletter called The Write Lifea joint substack venture with Benjamin Sledge, Michael Thompson, and John Gorman.

In it, we’ll each be dishing on lessons we’ve learned — and what it’s like — working to turn writing into a full-time gig. And, wow, do we have a ton to talk about:

  • Ben’s been writing books — you can preorder WHERE COWARDS GO TO DIE here
  • Mike’s been doing the same + ghostwriting and, of course, writing tons of articles, which you can read here.
  • Gorman, when not writing beautifully on Medium, powers both corporate marketing machines and national + global policymaking as a brand consultant and messaging strategist.

So we’ll talk about all that, as well as dive into elements of craft–providing actionable, snackable advice, such as:

  • How to write captivating titles/leads when writing online
  • How to write book proposals
  • What’s the difference between self-publishing vs. publishing with a house
  • What makes for engaging storytelling across different channels, outlets, and platforms

We’re even prepping to offer some coaching … so subscribe now to stay in the know!

And we’ll share and discuss other great things we’re reading and learning from.

If that sounds like something you may be interested in, subscribe to the newsletter here.

As a bonus! When you subscribe, you’ll automatically receive a FREE downloadable PDF with some of our favorite writing tips and thoughts.

We’re all very excited and I’m thrilled to start this next labor of love, and honored to share it with all of you.

Alright, that’s it for now. Much, much love — still :)

-Dan
