Use & Throw
Apr 25, 2021
loving me is easy —
like using use-and-throw cutlery:
out of one plastic, into another;
recycled for another time.
like listening to comfort songs on repeat:
press play; playing now; press pause;
“I’m feeling better now, thanks.”
like taking me out of the box
when you’re out of stock; till then
I’ll quietly sit on the shelves.
like opening a box of tissues:
the tears seem to dry out when
there’s nothing left at the spout.
like a spare tyre in the trunk
fitted clumsily, fitted hurriedly, fitted back
when it has done its job.
like a shoulder, arms, and chest
to cry on, to embrace, for warmth,
always at the ready.
