We can CRUSH racism, with just one word!
This is not a poem, nor is it a story.
This piece is an observation that I feel has gone so unforgivably unnoticed.
As human beings we can come with some pre-programming, and some set notions in thought patterns.
These could be part of just being a human, or maybe they are picked up throughout our lives, they could also be inherited from outside sources.
What I refer to as; the two option thought mentality:
“yes”, “no”
“up”, “down”
“left”, “right”
For some, “black” and “white”
Situations and thoughts can be often viewed as either this, or as either that; in a lot of cases having the two thought options.
At some point we have all heard it, but some have even experienced it; having their own skin colour used against them, in a negative way.
To think, we have all this technology at our fingertips; so much opportunity, so much culture; yet something as archaic as racism, still exists today.
It blows my mind that people become judged based on their skin “colour”.
In a world of such beautiful diversity, racism it seems is one of the last things that stops us from truly moving forward as a species, and into the future.
But we shouldn’t need art degrees to realise that black and white are not even colours…
They are shades…
So saying that someone is a white person; are they?
Saying that someone is a black person; are they?
No, they are not.
The darkest skinned person is not the shade of black, nor is the whitest person the shade of white either.
So why call people as such, same for brown, yellow, red or any other colour for that matter.
The single word that has the power to destroy the false concept of colour, and unite humanity, regardless of their skin, is the word “hue”.
Because we all fall into it, somewhere within the 10,000,000 different hues.
Compare two white people and think, are they the same? No. Same for any other person of any other “colour”.
Because we all have our own hue.
If you took the colour blue and made it as dark as you could, you will get black. Make the same colour as light as you can, you will get white. Because they are shades, not colours.
The same as people.
If we all thought more in terms of “hue” we might realise how completely stupid racism is really is.
I invite people to share this, who knows it might change the world.
I have removed my Copyright from this piece. I feel this is an important message, and I would like it being used without restriction, should people wish to.
I hope you enjoyed reading this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it.
