What Do You Say Before ‘I Love You’?

I find myself proofreading the texts I send her to make sure those three little words haven’t escaped from my mind, snaked down to my thumbs on an emotional current, and spilled onto the keyboard.

There is so much I want to let her know so that she knows how much she means to me, but due to socially constructed timelines, those three words are blacklisted.
