So that our minds can hear each other. Or at the very least, so you can hear mine.

My mind is screaming, look here! Swing your head in this direction! Can’t you see my little mind’s arms waving to grab your attention?

Cut the noise, there’s no one here but us. You look straight into me. My eyes catch yours. Brown on brown. And all of a sudden, my mind stops. Time stops.

As earth rotates beneath our feet, I let go what I wanted to say. Instead, I float between inhale and exhale, as we hold each other’s gaze … for that one tiny itty bitty millisecond of a moment.

But then, you blink. An eyelash descends and your eye drifts down. My mind, a millisecond moment too late, let slip a belated whisper, I like you.
