Bangkok, Thailand, is my motherland. My family is all there. Lately, our family and my groups of friends tend to spontaneously arrange for trips near Bangkok when I visit. In this post, I will introduce a few breathtaking places that are within a few hours away from Bangkok by driving

My Ozone Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima

Panoramic view of the back of the resort

It is a beautiful resort and golf club located in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima. It is 4-hour of straight driving from Bangkok.

The resort itself is within reach from other attractions such as Khao Yai National Park, Farm Chokchai, and many other places along Thanaratch Road.

Its rooms are classically decorated. It has spa facilities, swimming pool with a pool-side bar, and soon-to-have a fitness gym. It has a restaurant with excellent services. It grows and harvests organic vegetables that it serves as salads. It also has a small stables of goats, horses, hens, monkeys, and foxes.

My family opted for all-inclusive staying in just to relax and rewind. I got up in the morning (6:00 am), jogged and breathed in a lot of ozone, watched and listened to morning birds, and bathed in a gentle sun beam while looking afar piercing fog to reach mountain tops. It was not completely quiet, but the Bangkok frenzy just could not interrupt.

During the weekday of March, we pretty much got the whole resort for ourselves. It’s perfect for a getaway from the crowd. The resort would be more lively in winter (December), though.

This is a very famous restaurant with cliff-side breathtaking views far-reaching into the sea. Lovers come here for a romantic sunset when the sun dives into the sea. Friends can gather around while sitting in bean bags and comfy sofas. It’s definitely a must-go of Pattaya. Families come for bonding outing feasting over palatable Thai seafood and more. Their drinks menu is also hard to beat, featuring a varieties of cold and refreshing alcoholics and non-alcoholics.

Wat Phanan Choeng, Ayutthaya

Wat Phanan Choeng is located where two rivers merge, to the south of Ayutthaya province. The temple is thought to be established in the 14th century. It’s undeniably one of the great Buddhism foundations of Thailand.

In the main chapel lies the huge Buddha statue called Luang Pho Tho (pronounced luang por to — as in tofu) by the Thais. It is 19 meters tall and emits an immense sense of peace and tranquility.

Ayutthaya province itself deserves a day or two for immersing oneself in the unique history and culture of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, which was the previous Kingdom of Thailand that existed from 1351 to 1767.

Wat Arun, Bangkok

Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn is an iconic riverside temple by the west bank of Chao Phraya River. The well-known landmark is the 70-meter-tall pagoda of which King Rama II of Siam Kingdom commissioned its construction.

Thailand is a place of wonder. It has unique culture, history, and architecture. Modern establishments add non-Thai elements to the overall beauty. There are always new things to experience and old things to view a different angle.
