Five Years of Journaling Taught Me to Uncomplicate Messy Emotions Easily
Here’s how I improved my mental health and became happier by writing a journal.
Writing was a pipe dream for three years before I wrote my first article. I used to daydream about being a writer on a loop as it was torture to live in reality.
This daydream protected me from the hum-drum of my monotonous life. I researched about writing and the first practice that I adopted was journaling.
Julia Cameron’s morning pages were my initiation into the writing world. I have been writing morning pages for more than five years now and I have yet to find a better journaling exercise than this.
Here’s what I learned from my extensive journaling habit.
Dreams do come true, but only if you work on them
I started morning pages solely because I wanted to write more. I didn’t do it for better mental health or productivity.
But along the way, it became the best mental health management tool for me and for that the reason I have continued it for over five years now.
But I became a believer two years ago when I quit my job and became a full-time writer.
