The Rising Star in Cryptocurrencies Part 2: Launchpad
According to Coinmarketcap, Bitcoin has once again risen to USD $5000 since April 2nd; it’s clear that lately, cryptocurrencies are gradually returning to a bull market. The primary reason for this resurgence is the current rise of fundraising event “Launchpad”, a term first used by Binance, the leader of global exchanges in terms of transaction volume.
Launchpad Propels Meteoric Rise of Cryptocurrency Economics
The majority of cryptocurrencies fundraise through issuing units and once successful, they begin discussions with exchanges for listing. However, all types of cryptocurrencies are listed on all types of exchanges on a daily basis; most cryptocurrencies lack consistent liquidity and their market price often underperforms after listing where ultimate, their insufficient transaction volume leads to forced de-listing.
The latest emerging marketing method in cryptocurrencies is Launchpad, which is basically an advanced version of an IEO. In an IEO, projects search for “reliable exchanges” while in Launchpad, exchanges search for “reliable projects”. As Launchpad projects are exchange oriented, they can choose to work with superior emerging cryptocurrencies to connect projects with the users and fans of exchanges. Using various online and offline marketing methods, exchanges are able to host events at scale.
Statistics show all emerging cryptocurrencies that have participated in Launchpad have showed excellent results after listing on exchanges, with many growing by 5~10X. The most successful projects include: BitTorrent (BTT), Fetch (FET), and Top Network (TOP). As of this article, all Launchpad projects have created massive earnings for investors, projects, and exchanges which is why projects are striving to participate in Launchpad events hosted by large exchanges. However, most projects don’t request participation as cryptocurrency projects must receive Launchpad invitations from exchanges.

It’s safe to say that all current Launchpad projects are seeing massive success and therefore, other projects will strive to participate in Launchpad events of large exchanges. However, projects don’t have assertive power in most Launchpad events and must be invited by exchanges for participation.
In February this year, Binance and BitTorrent (BTT) released the first Launchpad event which swiftly became a rising star in cryptocurrency circles. Many cryptocurrency investors have followed Launchpad’s lead in their investments. The author of this article believes that investors that wish to invest in Launchpad are obligated to understand the contents and properties of their investments instead of easily following the lead of others. One suggestion is investigating whether certain projects have landed technology products and use that as a starting point for evaluation.
