Each Sunday, my wife and I have decided to prepare, cook and eat a meal together — intentionally. Every Friday, I’ll be sharing our experience here in this space. I want to see the growth that will come in our marriage because of this. I hope you enjoy our story.

Life gets busy.

Between my job, marriage, family, friendships and writing, my time quickly gets filled up. Some of you surely have schedules that are even more jam-packed. Everyone is busy.

Our phones buzz with notifications. Our jobs seem to creep further past 5 o’clock every day. So many things jockey for our attention.

But today, I want to tell you a true story about a time when my wife and I bypassed the hustle and bustle. Instead, we spent intentional time together doing something simple, yet out of the ordinary.

Cooking.

From Zero to Raw Shrimp

“What would you like for dinner?” Sarah asked, beginning a familiar dialogue.

“Uh, I don’t know,” began my sparkling reply. “Do we have any leftovers?”
