A Rebel’s Call to Action: Version 2
Author’s note: As per the Seedling Challenge initiated by Bradan Writes Stories, this story is an expansion of Version 1. They are not sequential, though you may choose to read them in order to watch how the story develops in complexity.
Questions about the new agricultural policies started as a whisper. Easily dismissible. When They realized the dissent was growing teeth in some areas of the country, They started using words like “conspiracy theories” and “propaganda” and “fear mongering” to discredit the naysayers.
“Centralization and Regulation are key,” They said. It was dangerous to let just anyone have a farm with animals and food crops. Contaminants could enter the supply. Impossible to know if such unmonitored products were safe for human consumption.
Laws were enacted. To ensure public safety, of course. Underground resistance grew, but so did the consequences for noncompliance.
