Holiday To Tenerife: Part 5: Bye Bye Canary

I found that my lack of ability to locate a tangible culture was due to my locale. I was simply in the epicentre of tourism, it was lovely though being able to soak in the vitamin D, breathe the sun in through the pours of my skin and have access to beverages so bright that they emit their own ultra-violet light.

I am at the southern tip where as the capital is full of museums and historical monuments, I really am curious to what these may reveal, I can only assume Spanish conquest , battle ships and pillage. Alas it is too late to find out for sure.

I learnt that on this island bananas are the largest foreign export although you would be hard pressed to find a banana Yazoo at any convince store. Basil is the fastest growing export, picked up mostly by England and Germany. This might explain why we find a leaf of this on almost every meal now in the UK, add one to your microwave lasagne for that Ritz vibe.

I go home today feeling nice and radish faced, I somehow avoided being majorly sunburnt or in any significant danger. I’m excited to get back though although it has been one hell of a few days.
