The biggest curse of modern life is stress. And its most deadly consequence is inflammation, which is the prime factor of many chronic diseases.

Stress threatens your longevity. It triggers overeating which increases your chances of obesity— the root cause of diabetes and heart disease.

So, you need to control your response to stress if you want to avoid binge-eating your emotions.

Stress makes you a hungry-hungry hippo

Short-term stress ruins your appetite. It initiates a fight or flight response which suppresses your hunger.

Chronic stress has a completely opposite effect on your hunger hormones. It pumps up cortisol which increases appetite and the motivation to eat.

Cortisol makes you crave high-sugar and fatty foods, to prepare you for the oncoming danger.

Stress messes up your hunger cues. Emotional eating during a stressful situation can wreck your health and mental well-being in the long run.

Your comfort foods won’t eradicate stress, they will only distract you from your situation.
