Recently we published Naomi Alderman’s essay about the different personas she adopts as a woman working in the tech industry.

Sometimes, Naomi is The Angry Strident Feminist Who Takes No Shit; sometimes she’s One of the Boys. Other times she’s a Blinky-Eyed Know-Nothing, or The Victim, or The Comforter.

Have you ever found yourself playing these roles? Perhaps it was given to you by the people you work with. Perhaps you adopted it on purpose. Or maybe you’ve played an entirely new role that she doesn’t mention?

Write your story on Medium — and feel free to include an illustration of the “mask” you wear. Then send it to us at matter@medium.com, and we’ll publish it in our ‘My Masks’ collection.
