I haven’t been active online or writing anything for almost two weeks now.

Well, I’ve got a confession to make — Covid finally got me — after I played it safe for two years.

Full disclosure: I’ve never been vaccinated or boosted. And I’m sharing my personal story of what my Covid infection was like.

Why I chose to remain unvaccinated is a topic for another story. But long story short, I took the one-size-fits-all medical advice that everyone should get vaccinated regardless of age or health status with a grain of salt.

I’m a healthy person who is physically fit and I approach my health holistically. Besides, I knew with the Omicron variant, the vaccine was no longer as effective as it was with earlier variants, so it totally made no sense to me to take it. I also wasn’t worried if my kids would catch it as I knew most healthy kids have mild symptoms from Omicron infection and recover fairly quickly.

How I got sick with Covid

Throughout the pandemic, my family and I have managed to keep ourselves safe. We avoided crowds, wore masks, and followed all the other safety precautions.
