ISI Kolkata building!

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

The Master of Technology in Quality, Reliability & Operations Research (MTech QROR) is a two-year full-time program offered by the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in Kolkata. The program is designed to produce specialists in statistical quality control, reliability, operations research, and quality management systems.

The MTech QROR program covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Statistical quality control
  • Reliability engineering
  • Operations research
  • Quality management systems
  • Data mining
  • Machine learning
  • Artificial intelligence

The program also includes a strong foundation in mathematics and computing. Students are required to take courses in calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics, and programming.

As a qualified M.Tech QROR graduate from ISI Kolkata, I believe I am well-qualified. Coming from an engineering background, this blog will be beneficial for engineering students preparing for QROR.

In the written admission test there are two parts. one is MMA and the other is PQB.

MMA: In MMA there are 30 MCQ questions each carrying 4 marks from the 10+2 level. According to me the level of questions is between JEE Main and JEE Advanced mathematics question papers. So prepare well. Cengage or Arihant JEE Advanced book is suggested also for Engineering Maths go for BS GREWAL.Also, solve the previous question papers and some sample papers from the ISI website, then you’ll have an idea of the question pattern.

PQB: In PQB section there are 8 to 10 questions and you need to solve 4 questions each carrying 20 marks. Here people from mechanical background will get an advantage over other departments as the syllabus content mostly matches with their B.Tech(B.E) syllabus. In this section previous year's questions are repeated sometimes, so solve all the previous year questions. The level of the questions in this section is comparatively easy. For this section, I suggest any GATE Mechanical book. The electrical & electronics part you’ll not get here, for that case consult those problems to any ECE or EE guys and get the reference of any good book. For engineering drawing, there are basically two types of questions, one is the isometric projection view of a machinery component will be given and you need to draw the Orthographic Projection view. The other one is just the vice versa. Follow some YouTube videos for this.(You can check Manas Patnaik)
